O One of a Kind
For all the these attributes and the many more we embody as women, we are celebrated on the 8th of March yearly known as the International Women’s Day. This is marked worldwide with many activities.
I happened to attend one of such events, it was organised by Kensington and Chelsea College. It was a lovely program which had different female speakers thriving in their chosen fields. This included the mayor of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, a chemical engineer, a fire fighter and some women from the Hubb Community Kitchen (a group of women who came together to cook fresh food for their families after being displaced by the Grenfell Tower Fire, they have published a book, tilted “Together: Our Community Cookbook” which was championed by the Duchess of Sussex). All the speakers are impacting their communities in their own special way.
The theme for this years International Women’s Day was, #Balance for Better . This theme I guess has different meanings to different women around the world. To me this theme meant “versatility” as a woman but it also made me realise I had to remain balanced and stay true to who I am. I believe one has to be balanced in every area of their lives, either in their education, job, family, social life, etc as balance helps us live a peaceful life.
The woman is an extraordinary being, she is blessed and has the ability to multitask effortlessly. However, this ability can sometimes be detrimental as we try to be every and anything to the people we love and most often forget to take care of ourself.
Having a balanced life by taking care of ourselves is fundamental as we can’t give what we don’t have. So we should do well to take care of ourselves to enable us be all that God has called us to be.
My prayer is that women continue to make an impact wherever they find themselves and appreciate who God has made them to be.
Happy International Women’s Day,
